As you most likely know, Sanjay Mortimer, our dear friend and co-founder of E3D, tragically passed away last year, at just 32 years of age. This was a massive blow to us here at E3D, but Sanjay’s reach was global, and news of his death also sent shock waves around the world. Sanjay's legacy must live on so we've launched a charitable foundation in his memory and invite you to join us for our first-ever fundraising event. 

Why the Sanjay Foundation? 

Sanjay suffered from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He was always open about this condition and the challenges it brought but he was determined to not let it define him. He was a visionary with a quite brilliant mind – his capacity to think unconventionally has driven so much of the progress our industry has enjoyed. The way he addressed this condition and the success he achieved, combined with his immense passion for 3D printing is why we are forming the Sanjay Foundation. 

What is the Sanjay Foundation? 

The foundation will be a resource for those who are gifted potential engineers, those who may not be able to progress without funding, and for whom mainstream education may not be working in some way. Examples include: 

• Young people who are gifted & talented but are lacking in financial, practical, or educational resources 

• Young neuro-atypical learners such as those with ADHD and autism 

How will it work? 

The Charity will raise funds to help these children and young adults gain greater engagement with education through 3D printing. Ambassadors (3D printing centres & hackerspaces) will be able to put these young people in touch with the Foundation and provide access to its resources, examples include:

• Means-tested direct funding 

• Supply of 3D printing equipment 

• Placement opportunities within the 3D printing industry 

To kickstart our fundraising activities, we're putting on a circus-themed extravaganza, which promises to be wild, just like Sanjay. Tickets are £150 and include local beer/cider, delicious BBQ food with all the trimmings, awesome circus acts, pumping tunes all day long plus a silent disco for when dusk falls. We've got lots of other tricks up our sleeves too but you'll have to come along to find out what those are ;). 

There are lots of lovely local Airbnb's and we'll be organising travel into Central Oxford for the after-party! For those of you driving, parking is available onsite.
