About Film: 40th Anniversary screening of Local Hero (1983) on 35mm film

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of Bill Forsyth’s Local Hero (1983), which is being screened at The Cinema Museum from our own 35mm print.

Local Hero was Bill Forsyth’s follow-up to Gregory’s Girl (1981), produced by David Puttnam and with original music from Dire Strait’s Mark Knopfler. Forsyth won the 1984 BAFTA Award for Best Direction.

Peter Riegert plays “Mac” MacIntyre, an American oil company representative who is sent by his boss (Burt Lancaster) to the fictional village of Ferness on the west coast of Scotland to purchase the town and surrounding property for his company.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
