About St Mary's Jazz Evenings: Christmas Special

Pianist and singer Hugo Jennings and drummer Robbie Ellison will be joined by a world-class band to perform jazz arrangements of a variety of Christmas favourites, including Christmas and Advent carols, popular songs, and much more. This will be the perfect night to enjoy high quality Christmas music in the beautiful setting of St Mary's Church Battersea, right on the riverside.

Hugo Jennings is a jazz pianist, singer and bandleader, orchestral conductor, teacher, and music curator. He has established himself as a respected name on the London jazz scene, both through his playing and through his work as founder and director of the highly successful Battersea Jazz Festival. He has performed regularly at various jazz venues, and concert halls, such as Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, The Junction, Battersea Power Station, and the Clapham Grand. He also works as conductor of the Social London Orchestra and the incumbent conductor of the South London Jazz Orchestra.

Robbie Ellison can be found playing all over London, the UK and throughout Europe as an in-demand (though perhaps overly-opinionated) member of the contemporary jazz community. His compositions and arrangements draw upon a diverse range of influences, including the music of Dizzy Gillespie, Tadd Dameron, Mary Lou Williams, Gil Evans, Benny Golson and Slide Hampton, as well as classical composers Chopin, Mahler and Schoenberg.

Tickets are £10, and under-16s go free. Audience members are welcome to bring their own refreshments. There will be no bar at this performance.
