About Film: Kennington Noir presents Trapped (1949)

Trapped (1949), directed by Richard Fleischer, with Barbara Payton, Lloyd Bridges and John Hoyt.

Classic film noir directed in a semi-documentary style, as was briefly popular at the time. When counterfeit money starts turning up around LA, Treasury agents recognise the “funny money” as the trademark of Tris Stewart (Lloyd Bridges), who has been in prison for several years. They make a deal with him, promising him he will be released on early parole if he will help them. However, Tris has other ideas, and plans to double cross the Feds.

Trapped also stars Barbara Payton in her break-out role; after Trapped she made Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950), which Ken Noir showed last month, but her career was to be cut short because of her tempestuous private life. 16mm film presentation.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
