About Film: Kennington Noir presents The Killers (1946)
The Killers (1946), directed by Robert Siodmak, with Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner and Edmond O’Brien.
Made by a master of the film noir, Robert Siodmak, The Killers is based on an Ernest Hemingway short story and scripted by John Huston and Richard Brooks, neither of whom were credited. It was Burt Lancaster’s debut, and Ava Gardner had only appeared in minor roles, but both sprang to movie stardom with this film.
Two professional killers assassinate a former boxer, who appears to accept his fate. In a series of flashbacks, an insurance detective tries to find out why he was killed.
Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.
Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
