About Film: Kennington Noir presents Gun Crazy (1950)
Gun Crazy (1950), directed by Joseph H. Lewis, and starring Peggy Cummins and John Dall.
One of the truly great film noir masterpieces, Gun Crazy aka Deadly is the Female is a master class in using B picture elements to make a film that beats most big money efforts. With a script from Dalton Trumbo, hiding under the pseudonym of Millard Kaufman because of the McCarthyite blacklist, and formidable playing by the leads, this is a gem – look out for the single-shot bank heist, a lesson in filmmaking. And an early warning of the American addiction to firearms. Perfection!
“A small but perfectly formed black-and-white masterpiece of flash and trash, unwholesome obsession and criminal daring”, said Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian.
Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.
Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
