About Jackie Hagen & Mandla Rae at New Queers Blackpool Weekender
As part of Blackpool’s New Queers Weekender we are proud to present an exquisite double bill at Blackpool’s own boutique hotel for art lovers, the Art B&B.
The hilarious performance maker Jackie Hagan explores what it is to be a bisexual disabled person. Jackie wants to show you her stump, she wants to share some cut-price lager with you from her false leg and she wants one of you to win a Fray Bentos pie. Complimenting the evening is the amazing Mandla Rae, whose punchy and vibrant spoken word explores power dynamics, trauma, heritage and delicate mental health.
Please note - all tickets for this show include a free welcome drink.
Before the exciting performances from Jackie Hagan and Mandla Rae we would love to invite you to join us ‘early-doors’ from 6.30pm at the Art B&B Bar and Café to mix and mingle! We want to ask for your help as we explore some hot topics such as gender and identity as well as what it means to be an ally or member of the LGBTQ+ community here in town. We want to hear your opinions, thoughts and ideas as we begin to make plans for LGBTQ+ performances and opportunities that might take place here in Blackpool in the future.
We’ve worked together with local artist Garth Gratrix to create some beautiful and light hearted installation pieces to help get those conversations going AND we’ll even throw in some teas, coffee’s, drinks and nibbles to keep us all fuelled ahead of show time!
Then post-show let’s celebrate the future before dancing the night away with the fabulous Demi Godd (https://www.facebook.com/thedemigodd/)
