Tutor Bio: 7 years of sewing tutor experience, working in own studio and also forother organisations

Course Outline: In this series of workshops you will learn to "read" a commercial pattern; what all the markings mean, how you transfer them to your fabric, how you adjust a pattern to your own size. We will deal with all the fitting issues you may have and then adjust the pattern accordingly and make a toile. Once we have a beautifully fitted mock up we will concentrate on cutting your final garment and stitching it up.

There will be a choice of the Collete Ginger A-line skirt, or a shift dress, you will need to decide which one you want to make before the class so I can order the patterns in.

The price for the whole course is £200 for 5  x 3 hour classes and which includes the use of machines, tools, threads, the pattern for you to take home, the fabric for your toile, but not the fabric for your final garment. We will discuss what you need at the first class. You may want to bring a notebook?

This is a small group class (maximum 3 students!) so there is plenty of one to one attention whilst learning in a fun unpressurized environment with and from other students.

You do not need to be a whizz on the machine, this class is fine to take after the beginners or zips class, but you will need to be able to independently thread up a machine and know about seam allowances and how to make a seam.

You will also get a copy of my sewing handbook to take home (RRP£15) so you won't have to take many or any notes!
