About February Forest School (5-11s)
Join us for three mornings of forest school in February half term holiday. It's a time of year when it's all too tempting to hibernate inside, but come out to play and you'll have a chance to spot the snowdrops flowering, get some colour in your cheeks, and explore and play in amongst the trees. As ever, there'll be the mud kitchen to mix up mud pies in, potions to brew, hammocks to chill out in, dens to build, bugs to find, bucket pulleys to manouevre, and new nature craft to make every day. The children will get the chance to use real tools such as the bowsaw and knives for a purpose, and will enjoy taking part in wide games and group projects.
Event Terms & Conditions
Make sure the children come dressed appropriately for the weather conditions- children get cold quick, but are happy to play outside in any weather as long as they stay warm. Lots of layers, including waterproofs top and bottom, is the key. They might want to bring a flask with a hot drink and a snack. If you are planning to stay too, don't forget that you'll also need to dress for the weather!
If it's rainy, the sessions will still go ahead- I'll put up a tarp, and we'll have fun with mud and puddles. In the event of a strong wind, the session will be postponed- you'll be notified by 9am that morning.
They don't have to attend all three sessions, but the benefits of forest school are cumulative. The confidence and resilience builds up over time, and children get far more out of it if they attend sessions on a longer term basis.
