About Transitioning into Adolescence

(Please note the dates stated are N/A for this event, it is a rolling course and can be downloaded at any time)

Young people, just like adults, can experience an intense emotional reaction as they anticipate or react to transitions and this can often be observed through their behaviour.

All young people are different and a move to a new school or returning after a long period of time off may affect them in distinct or unexpected ways - while one child may manage transitions smoothly, another may have difficulties and may require more reassurance and preparation.

In addition to dealing with moving to a new school, young people are also navigating their way through adolescence and that too can be a time full of worry and anxiety.

As parents you might find during this period that one minute they need you and the next minute they're pushing you away so what can you do to support this challenging period in their lives?

In this seminar you will:

  • Gain an insight into where young people are in terms of their brain development and therfore understand why they might be struggling emotionally or behaviourally
  • Reflect on what our teens are dealing with at this stage in their development
  • Recognise early warning signs that they might be struggling with their mental health
  • Learn practical ways you can support your child transitioning into senior school and adolescence
  • Learn ways you can begin to support emotional health in your child and know when to contact professional services.
