About Horsemanship demonstration with Joe Midgley
This demonstration will explore the training of three different horses at three different stages of their education. We will cover both groundwork and ridden. It should be noted that despite Joe's use of western tack, we will be focusing on lightness and communication. Everything you will learn will be applicable to your Showjumper, Dressage horse or happy hacker.
First you will meet Remy. Remy was the UK Ranch futurity champion in 2024 and Reserve UK Working rail champion in 2025. Most recently, he was the Sudbrooke Park Versatile Ranch horse Open Champion. He is one of the top western horses in the UK and has been teaching people about horsemanship for the last 6 years. He will demonstrate the lightness and communication we are looking to achieve as our horses develop.
Next you will meet Picnic. Picnic is in full time training with Joe, and by the time of the demo will have had two months of ridden training. Not a lot, but enough to show you how quickly we can establish lightness in young horses and prepare them for the future.
Finally we will meet Silver. He lives at Hazlehead and has fortnightly lessons with Joe. He wasn't started by Joe, but you will see how we start to build that lightness and feel later in a horses education.
This demo is not to be missed!
