About Unapologetically Theatrical - with ImprompTwo
A three hour class with Kathy & Joe Rinaldi of ImprompTwo.
ImprompTwo is not your average improv troupe. Known for their emotionally resonant, intimate, and often hilarious performances, this duo takes improvised theatre to a new level—one where vulnerability, timing, and chemistry drive the story just as much as wit and spontaneity.
Over the past seven years, they’ve brought their unique form of improv to festivals around the world, most recently in Oslo, Liverpool, Lisbon, and Nottingham, where their shows received standing ovations.
So what makes them festival standouts, and how you can apply some of their techniques to your own improv?
• Passion is their driving force.
• They embrace the power of silence.
• They banter with purpose, since humor is grounded in character relationships.
Improv can be deeply moving, as well as funny. When you treat scenes like mini one-act plays—with stakes, silence, and sincerity—you elevate your craft. Whether you're new to improv or a seasoned performer, we invite you to attend this workshop and learn how to take your improv from entertaining to unforgettable.
Kathy and Joe Rinaldi bring decades of experience in theatre and performance from New York to Canada, blending a deep understanding of storytelling with a vibrant, theatrical approach to improvisation.
Joe Rinaldi is a veteran SAG/AFTRA/AEA actor whose career spans television, film, and professional theatre across the Northeast, Midwest, and New England. A passionate improviser, Joe seamlessly moves between Shakespearean drama and longform narrative improv—often in the same breath. He is a former producer and artistic director of Firedrake Productions (NYC), and a founding member of several acclaimed improv ensembles, including Come What Will (Shakespearean improv), Unconsciously Coupled, and ImprompTwo.
Kathy Rinaldi is a professional playwright and theatre director with credits in Toronto, New York, and Florida. Her broad theatrical background includes directing, producing, and serving in leadership roles with theatre companies throughout Canada and the U.S. A founding member of ImprompTwo and co-founder of Unconsciously Coupled, Kathy expertly weaves her scripted theatre expertise into the world of improvisation.
Together, Kathy and Joe co-lead ImprompTwo, an innovative duo exploring the intersection of scripted and improvised storytelling. Most recently, they have partnered with The Pretend Company in London to promote and expand the reach of improvised theatre across the UK.
