About Tension (1949) Presented by: Kennington Noir

Tension (1949), directed by John Berry, with Richard Basehart, Audrey Totter, Cyd Charisse and Barry Sullivan.

Meek pharmacist Warren Quimby (Basehart) is married to Claire (Totter), who is constantly unfaithful and finally runs off with a shady businessman, Barney Deager. When Deager is shot dead, the police put Quimby in the frame for his murder.

John Berry was a promising young director until the McCarthy witch-hunts forced him to re-locate to France. Tension features an early score by composer Andre Previn.
