About Welcome Garden skill-share: Propagating from hard-wood cuttings
It's winter time at the Welcome Garden and we are thinking about propagating new plants for the season ahead. Now is an appropriate time to take hardwood cuttings and we'll be collecting suitable material from the plants we have in the garden that are suitable for this propagation technique. For us, this will include blackcurrant, elder, guelder rose. The cuttings that take successfully will be potted on later this year and will be available to purchase some time after that. We are opening this up as a skill share so that these skills can permeate through the Waltham Forest Food Growers Network and beyond. During this session, we will discuss this propagation technique, covering: the types of plant that are suitable for it; why and when we might propagate in this way; how to do it; and get some hands on practice.
