About Film: Women and Cocaine presents Sadie McKee (1934)
The life of poor, but determined Sadie McKee takes many twists and turns. The daughter of a cook in wealthy household where she also works, Sadie catches the eye of the family’s spoiled heir, but sacrifices stability for love, only to pay a steep personal price. Released just months before the Production Code came into effect, Joan Crawford is at her best in this romantic drama, tracing a working-class woman’s hard climb in Depression-era America.
The film will be preceded by a short introduction, and followed by a raffle.
Seating is unallocated. Service dogs welcome. Unfortunately, this film screening does not have closed captions or audio description available.
