About My Agency. My Responsibility:

Agency and Responsibility Self-Development Workshop with Horses and Humans

With the Lindley Herd, we invite you to explore two of the most fundamental questions in human life: How much do you feel in control of your own life? And how do you know which responsibilities are truly yours to carry?

Building on our popular Managing Our Perfectionism workshops, this immersive day explores the relationship between agency — our sense of authorship over our own lives — and responsibility, which can so easily tip into carrying too much, or too little.

Horses are powerful mirrors for this work. You cannot fake agency with a horse. They won't carry responsibility that isn't theirs. In their company, we discover what it feels like to act with genuine intention, and to put down what was never ours to hold.

Through self-reflection, pair sharing, and group discussion — and for much of the day, working outside in the arena with the herd — we'll explore what agency and responsibility look like in our lives, our relationships, and our work.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

2. Cancellation by Participant
If you need to cancel, please notify us in writing as soon as possible. Refunds will be issued as follows:

30–60 days before the workshop — 50% refund.

You may transfer your place to another named individual at any time, at no additional charge. Please notify us in writing before the workshop date.

3. Cancellation or Changes by the Organisers
In the unlikely event that we need to cancel the workshop, you will receive a full refund of your registration fee. We regret that we cannot accept liability for any travel, accommodation, or other costs you may have incurred.

We reserve the right to make changes to the programme or timings where circumstances require, and will communicate any significant changes promptly.

4. Working with Horses and Animals
Our workshops take place on a working smallholding in the company of horses and other animals. Please read the following carefully:

No riding is involved. No previous experience of horses or other animals is required.

Horses are sentient, living animals whose behaviour cannot be entirely predicted. Every reasonable precaution is taken to ensure your safety, and our facilitators are experienced in managing interactions carefully and responsibly.

By participating, you acknowledge that you are engaging with animals voluntarily and accept a reasonable level of personal responsibility for your own safety during these interactions.

Please follow all guidance given by the facilitators at all times when in the presence of the animals.

If you have a known fear of or allergy to horses or other animals, please disclose this at the point of booking so we can ensure appropriate support is in place.

5. Health and Wellbeing
This is a self-development workshop. It is not a therapeutic intervention and should not be treated as a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are currently receiving treatment for a mental health condition, we encourage you to discuss your participation with your healthcare provider beforehand.

Please disclose any relevant physical health conditions or mobility needs at the point of booking. We will make every reasonable adjustment to support your participation, but please be aware that much of the day takes place outdoors on uneven ground.

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy closed-toe footwear. Sandals, flip-flops, and heeled shoes are not suitable for working in the arena.

Yorkshire weather can be unpredictable. Please come prepared for all conditions, including rain.
Refreshments are provided throughout the day in our on-site log cabin, which offers a warm space to gather between outdoor sessions.

6. Confidentiality
Our workshops invite genuine reflection and personal sharing. To create a safe and trusting environment, we ask all participants to respect a mutual agreement of confidentiality: what is shared within the group stays within the group.

The facilitators hold the same commitment. Any information you share with us before or during the workshop will be treated with care and discretion.

We will co-create a group agreement on the day.

7. Photography and Recording
Photography may take place during the workshop for use in our promotional materials, website, and social media. This includes images of the horses, the venue, and participants.

If you would prefer not to be photographed, please let a facilitator know at the start of the day and we will respect your wishes. We ask that participants do not photograph or record other participants without their explicit consent.

8. Data Protection and Privacy
We will process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Your data will be used to administer your booking, communicate essential information about the workshop, and — where you have given consent — to keep you informed of future events.

We will not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. You may withdraw consent or request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us in writing.

9. Participant Conduct
We expect all participants to treat one another, the facilitators, and the animals with courtesy, care, and respect. We reserve the right to ask any individual to leave the workshop if their behaviour is deemed harmful or disruptive, without refund.

10. Liability
Whilst we take every reasonable precaution to ensure a safe and well-supported experience, we cannot accept liability for:

Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings.
Personal injury, except where caused by our own negligence.
Any indirect or consequential losses arising from attendance or non-attendance.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
