About 11th Amazon Film Festival presents Olhos d’Água: Da Lanterna Mágica ao Cinematographo and Entre as Nuvens

Entre as Nuvens (Dir. Alex Pizano | Ficção | 12’ | Roraima | 2025) – Entre as Nuvens is a Roraima-based science fiction thriller directed by Alex Pizano. The plot follows friends Davi and Marcus who, whilst playing in a field, spot something mysterious in the sky. Their curiosity leads them to a dangerous family secret, blending mysticism with local culture.

Olhos d’Água – da Lanterna Mágica ao Cinematographo (Dir. Eduardo Souza | Doc | 73’ | Pará | 2015) – The film seeks the origins of Brazilian pre-cinema and cinema through history of artists, magicians, peddlers, mountebanks, hawkers, film travelling salesmen and other adventurers who “made the Americas” bringing amazing novelties. They got here by one of the most famous ports in the world in mid-nineteenth, during the rubber era, making history in effervescent and bustling city of Belém, the main capital of the Amazon. The film is an overview of the city with the third per capita income in the world at that time and its vanguard role in the world cultural scenario.
