About Summer Show 2026
Nimble Dance Company presents: La Sylphide & Coppélia — A Double Bill
Join Nimble Dance Company for an afternoon of ballet at the Central School of Ballet, featuring two contrasting one-act productions that bring together the mystery of Romantic ballet and the charm of a much-loved classical favourite.
La Sylphide: The Coven of Desire
London Premiere
Following its creation for our participation at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, La Sylphide: The Coven of Desire makes its London premiere. Created and choreographed by Lilly Schroeder, this re-imagined version of the Romantic classic La Sylphide takes the familiar story into a darker and more mysterious world of desire, temptation and transformation. Inspired by the original ballet and its Scottish setting, The Coven of Desire explores the supernatural forces surrounding James and the Sylph, placing a powerful female collective at the heart of the story. Romanticism meets a contemporary theatrical vision in a work created especially for Nimble Dance Company and first presented at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Coppélia
The second half of the programme brings a change of mood with our new one-act adaptation of Coppélia.
Set to Léo Delibes' much-loved score, this joyful and playful ballet follows Swanilda, Franz and the mysterious Dr Coppélius, whose beautiful mechanical doll causes curiosity, confusion and more than a little trouble.
Bringing together classical ballet, characterful storytelling and some of Coppélia's most recognisable dances, our condensed production celebrates the humour, warmth and energy of this timeless ballet.
