About Labo Spirale

We're back, and this time we've got not one, but two incredible analogue programmes! We are thrilled to have Dagie Brundert and Deborah S. Phillips from Berlin and Tetsuya Maruyama from Brazil join us for an evening of experimental film and expanded cinema!

Film Comrades:  2 hyperproductive women from Berlin

When we asked Dagie Brundert and Deborah S. Phillips for a title for their programme, the first suggestion we got back was "2 hyperproductive women from Berlin", a statement which could not be truer if it tried.

Dagie Brundert’s films live from their directness, from the poetic imagery that brushes the ordinary against the grain, and not least from the tongue-in-cheek earnestness with which the filmmaker regularly surfaces out of the parallel universe of Super 8.

Deborah S. Phillips works as a visual artist with a number of different materials, including lithography, collage and 16mm, both for films and film performances, all characterised by her enigmatic use of colours & textures.

Formats: 16mm, Super 8, Scanned Super 8

Skin, Inscribed: contemporary 16mm handprocessed films from Brazil

This hand-picked program features works produced at artist-run film labs (film laboratories by artists, for artists) scattered throughout the country, born from the vast and diverse geopolitical territories of Brazil. Watching these works bring physical sensations, visible and invisible, marked by plants. A vision between nature and culture (humans). Since when have we separated from nature?

Formats: 16mm

Doors 7:00

Film start 7:30
