Fundraiser for London Mining Network

About Fundraiser for London Mining Network

The global scramble for ‘critical minerals’ is devastating lands on the frontlines of mining expansions. While mining corporations here in the UK profit from fuelling the global arms race and AI boom, communities face displacement, polluted water and soil, and loss of their livelihoods.

For 20 years, London Mining Network has been fighting back. We campaign for a globally just energy transition that minimises mining, delivers supply chain justice and defends communities’ sovereignty over their lands. Now more than ever, we need your support to continue this fight.

We invite you to join us for an evening at Pelican House, where we can come together and raise some money to sustain our work in solidarity with mining-affected communities.

We’ll be screening Neptune Frost, an Afro-futurist Sci-fi punk musical about an intersex African hacker, a coltan miner and the virtual marvel born as a result of their union – who attempt a takeover of the authoritarian regime that's exploiting the region's natural resources - and its people.

Following the film screening you’ll have the chance to mingle with like-minded people over food and drinks. Then we’ll have music from Gibbon & Goldfinch, a protest singing duo who will provide us with an unforgettable programme of songs and inspiration which you will not find anywhere else. Expect to be surprised, to laugh, to learn something new and possibly even to cry too.

We’re taking the fight to major mining corporations, and we need your support to hold them accountable. This event is part of our Big Give fundraising week, when donations will be doubled by match funding. If you can afford it, please consider choosing a solidarity ticket to help sustain our work resisting mining injustice further. Tickets are £5 for unwaged or unemployed people. Everyone welcome!
