A winter medicine making session at the community centre near Phytology in Bethnal Green to build our stocks of herbal remedies as we go deeper into the cold time.

We are taking the Mobile Apothecary out on Sunday nights alongside Refugee Community Kitchen's hot food distribution at Bethnal Green tube, which makes a great partnership of healthy nourishment for folk living in difficult conditions.

The last couple of months we have made up good supplies of decongesting Chest Rub and anti-inflammatory Muscle & Joint Balm and given these out to street community members along with warming herbal teas harvested and dried from the Phytology garden through the summer.

After conversation with people over the Apothecary table and with RCK volunteers, we'd like the next outing to offer healing cough syrups and medicinal hot chocolate, as well as more balms for pain and cold relief.

So this session will focus on making our processes more efficient, with stations for making balms and syrup. Join us to learn how to make these herbal preparations and to take part in this communal healthcare offering!

Your fee for the workshop covers materials and we offer tickets on a sliding scale to help accessibility. However if you or someone you know wants to come but are not able to pay, just let us know and you are welcome.

The Mobile Apothecary is a collaboration between Phytology gardeners and herbalists and St Margaret's House (The Create Place) seeking to support underserved communities in the locality with good-quality, homegrown and communally-made herbal remedies. These are distributed on the street by Bethnal Green tube alongside Refugee Community Kitchen on a monthly basis.
