With Support from Slow for a Poet.
Arbroath’s own Rebecca Connelly returns home to the Abbey Theatre with her full band for a powerful night of original music and standout live performance. Fresh from appearances at Celtic Connections and a run of summer festivals across Scotland this year, Rebecca has been building a reputation for her commanding vocals, honest songwriting, and warm connection with audiences. Blending country, folk and contemporary influences, her songs are heartfelt, energetic, and unmistakably authentic.
This special hometown show promises big live sound, brilliant musicianship, and the kind of atmosphere only a local crowd can bring. Whether you’ve followed Rebecca’s journey from the beginning or you’re looking for a memorable live music night out, this is a chance to experience one of Angus’s rising artists on a fantastic stage — and celebrate original music right here at home.
Slow for a Poet
Rhuari Campbell, known by his moniker Slow for a Poet, is an Alt-folk singer-songwriter hailing from Scotland’s central east coast. Drawing inspiration from legendary figures like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Leonard Cohen, as well as contemporary voices such as King Creosote and Bon Iver, Rhuari weaves raw ballads, dynamic riffs, and unforgettable hooks into his deeply personal storytelling. His work also carries the rich traditions of Scottish folk, influenced by icons such as Matt McGinn, Dick Gaughan, and Archie Fisher. Onstage, Rhuari delivers an immersive performance, blending strength, vulnerability, and wit, leaving audiences deeply moved by his honesty and humanity.
