About Horsemanship Masterclass
A Masterclass in Horsemanship with Joe Midgley! An insight into the psychology behind training horses from baby through to the elite level.
This demonstration will introduce you to four horses all at very different stages! Despite the Western equipment used in the demo, nearly everything discussed in the demo will be applicable to English horses too.
Magnus Rex at Dawn - to anyone who follows Joe's work needs no introduction. Remy is a multi AQHA high point winner and national champion. One of, if not THE most versatile western horse in the UK. Remy has won in the Ranch Riding, Ranch trail, Working western rail, Reining, Working cow horse, Roping - AND day to day he is a very handy ranch horse moving hundreds of cattle around the farm. Remy will demonstrate the refinement and feel we are looking to achieve in both English and Western horses.
Gunna Nic Chics - Picnic has been in training with Joe for the last 9 months and this will be her last event before she heads to the European Championships in Germany, to compete in the Junior Ranch horse classes. Picnic has shown great athleticism and talent in her training, and so we will discuss how easy it is to get in the way of a talented horse and prevent them from reaching their full potential. Picnic will demonstrate the end of the green and start of the intermediate stage of training.
Trashy inferno - Mango is now into just four months of ridden training. She will demonstrate the groundwork necessary to create a safe, sensible horse ready to progress in their training. Mango will then demonstrate the Green stage of ridden training and discuss how to progress from there on.
GI Gold star - Orion is a yearling with BIG aspirations. Joe will discuss teaching babies to try, and have a good attitude and mindset towards challenges. Groundwork in young horses is vital in strengthening them, in both mind and body - preparing them for their future riding careers. This demo will paint a clear picture of just how important that start is, and how with the right nurturing, you can create a genuine, trustworthy partner!
