About African-Inspired textiles Gel Printing & Slow Stitching Workshop
Explore African-inspired patterns, textures and mark-making in this creative 3-hour workshop combining gel plate printing with slow stitching.
You will begin by creating your own unique African-inspired textiles using a gel plate. Experiment with stencils, stamps, textured materials and other mark-making techniques to build layers of pattern, texture and colour on fabric.
Once your printed textiles are ready, you will transform them into a fabric vase using slow stitching techniques. You will learn how to use simple hand stitching to join, layer and embellish your printed fabric, creating a functional textile piece with a handmade character.
The workshop is suitable for beginners, and no previous experience of gel printing or sewing is required. It is a chance to explore print, pattern and slow stitching while creating something unique to take home.
All materials are provided, so you can simply come ready to explore, experiment and create.
