This special screening will be presented by Chris Lewis, son of Jerry Lewis and president of the American Wheelchair Mission. It will be preceded by an introduction and followed by a Q&A.

In this riotous spin on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, a klutzy chemistry professor concocts a formula that transforms him into a swaggering crooner. But the effect is only ever temporary and, tempted by the newfound confidence of his alter ego, he soon finds himself struggling to keep his competing personalities under control.

Widely regarded as Jerry Lewis’s masterpiece, The Nutty Professor is a hysterical, self-reflexive portrait of fractured identity: the fullest expression of a fascination with duality that runs throughout Lewis’s work.

Before the screening, Chris Lewis will be signing copies of his book Jerry Lewis on Being a Person. A selection of ‘Save The Cinema Museum’ supporter ticket options, including a pre-show book signing and The Nutty Professor posters (each signed by Jerry Lewis and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity), are available to buy in advance and on the night. All proceeds from sales of books and posters will support The Cinema Museum’s campaign to secure its permanent home.
