About The Real Gareth Jones - Separating Fact from Fiction
Based on original archival research, Gareth Jones' great-nephew, Philip Colley, will present a fascinating illustrated talk about his great-uncle's life and work.
The talk will focus on his now-famous tramp through 1930s Soviet Union, as portrayed in the film Mr Jones, where he gathered evidence for his groundbreaking reports on the famine there.
Colley has researched Gareth Jones' life and work for the past 40 years.
He is the founder of the Gareth Jones Society which seeks to preserve the historical truth of his famous relative's testimony.
Colley's recent sell-out talks have taken place at the National Library of Wales, the London Welsh Centre, Durning Library in Kennington, London, Aberystwyth University and the Barry War Museum.
