About Stewart Lee tells Toby Jones about his fave films

Stewart Lee, comedian, writer, director and filmmaker and actor Toby Jones have stepped up to help The Cinema Museum in its ‘Cinema Saves The Cinema Museum’ campaign – to help the Museum buy its forever home. Stewart and Toby will be giving you a fascinating and entertaining evening of clips, insight, conversation and probably a lot of laughs along the way. This is a unique, never to be repeated event by two of the UK’s most highly regarded stars of the screen. They will share those films that come from Stewart’s personal collection of favourites – and we are about to learn what makes them so special. It will be a lively night of exchanges and a chance to ask your questions from the floor.

Toby Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest stage and screen actors both in his native Great Britain and internationally (Mr. Bates vs The Post Office, Marvellous, Detectorists, Sherlock, Capital and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2). Toby has earned multiple awards, including a BAFTA for Marvellous (2014) and a Royal Television Society Award for Detectorists. He has also received nominations from the Olivier Awards and the Emmys. Not only is Toby a great actor, he is a much-loved longstanding friend and supporter of The Cinema Museum and is playing a huge role in our initiative to buy our forever home (‘Cinema Saves The Cinema Museum’)

Stewart Lee is a stand-up comedian, writer, director, and filmmaker. He is the winner of an Olivier Award for Jerry Springer: The Opera and numerous BAFTAs, British Comedy Awards, and Chortle Awards for his stand-up. His documentary film, King Rocker, about Birmingham punk and Birmingham public art, is an ongoing sleeper success. Stewart had a no 1 single in Jan 2021 in collaboration with the Asian Dub Foundation and has a wrestling move named after one of his routines by the Xtreme Wrestling Champion Zack Sabre Junior. He is also a columnist and music reviewer. His current stand-up show, Stewart Lee Vs The Man-Wulf, will soon be broadcast as a stand-up special, and his new book, Pea Green Boat, a darkly comic tale based on Edward Lear’s The Owl & The Pussy-cat, illustrated by David Waywell, is now available.
